Ian McNally is a New York City based composer, multi‑instrumentalist, and producer, and one of the most distinctive emerging voices in American music. Centering atmosphere, texture, and place, McNally moves fluently between electronica, contemporary classical, rock, and immersive sound design to create scores that feel as cinematic as they are musical.
A student of David Fulmer and Shafer Mahoney, McNally's work has been performed by The Talea Ensemble, Mazumal, Jay Campbell, and members of the International Contemporary Ensemble, and he has recently scored productions of WE and The Machine Stops (Mark O’Donnell Theater), Unearthly Visitants (Triskelion Arts), and Emilie (The Flea). When he’s not composing for stage and screen, McNally produces a tight circle of Brooklyn and Queens bands and performs around New York with Demeter and Moon Hound.
